Portable Linux is now available

I've written a small application to create bootable, multi-purpose USB drives out of Ubuntu images.

Portable Linux is a tool that lets you create bootable USB and removable drives using popular Live CDs based on Casper.  Unlike the competition, Portable Linux sports some unique features:

  1. The live USB drives created by this program let you use the remaining disk space on your USB drive to store and transport files between Windows, Mac and Linux computers, as usual.
  2. What's more, if your distribution supports persistence, the files and settings you edit on your live Linux distribution are persisted across reboots.
  3. After creating your Portable Linux distribution, you can easily add memtest86+ and MS-DOS to it.
  4. Finally, you can access the area used to store your files just fine from within your Linux distribution.  In that manner, you can create your live Linux distro, install a couple of codecs and applications on it, put a bunch of MP3s or movies in it, and you've got a complete multimedia center on your pocket!

After creating your live USB drive with Portable Linux, don't forget to read the Questions and tips section on this Web site!

Supported distributions at the moment include all the Ubuntu variants.

I hope you enjoy it.

While trying to boot a laptop with UNetBootin, the default 10 second countdown endlessly loops.

Any ideas?

You do realize this application has NOTHING to do with Unetbootin?

Excellent

I intalled the deb package while running kubuntu 9.04 from the live CD.
I now have kubuntu 9.0 on my 2GB Kingston memory stick and it's working great !
I'm using a Fujitsu Siemens E8010D laptop.

Thanks for this great app !
