The Burnin’ R theme for WordPress

Want a theme for your WordPress blog that is beautiful, customizable, standards-compliant, business-friendly and light on your (and your readers’) bandwidth? This is my latest creation. It’s a fully original piece of artwork. And the latest version not only supports Widgets, but supplies a few great widgets of its own (availability conditional to activation of certain plugins).
And, now, Burnin’ R features two different styles for you to choose from via your WordPress administration screen!
This theme is bundled with the great Turbocharged blogging package. Don’t pass the chance of getting this and other themes and plugins in a single package!
Latest version: 2.0.4 (changes)
Burnin’ R features
Here’s the lowdown on Burnin’ R:
- fully laid out using semantic HTML and CSS stylesheets — no tables used
- PDA and small screen friendly — you don’t need to generate alternate pages for Palm or Pocket PC browsers
- Two different styles you can choose from — plus your reader can switch styles using a standards- compatible Web browser
- business-friendly: ready for Google AdSense and others, with strategic positions in your blog that can be enhanced with banner ad code through the WordPress administrative interface — no need to edit files at all
- Widgets-compatible: you can drag-and-drop items in your sidebar (through the administration panel) to reorder them, and you can add extra items. Plus, the most popular WordPress plugins have been Widgetized so you don’t have to edit files at all.
- semi-fluid three-column layout (content plus two-column sidebar)
- heavily tuned and optimized for search engine relevancy: page titles are always relevant (the front page even shows your blog’s tagline), post content goes first in the HTML source, and semantic markup is used everywhere
- validates as XHTML 1.0 Transitional
- its visual style is completely driven by stylesheets — the theme’s layout can be altered substantially by changing a few lines in the main stylesheet, and users can choose (at least in Firefox) to use the default stylesheet or none at all
- every page carries an explanation (even error pages)
- font sizes are not fixed — even on Internet Explorer, your readers can resize the fonts to help them read better
- it makes use of elegant semitransparent PNGs
- includes shortcut icon and custom pages for directory indexes, Apache error pages, and a complete archive page (these pages automatically integrate themselves when the permalink structure is updated, and show the right hyperlinks, whether URL rewriting is active or not)
- several WordPress plugins have been conditionally integrated — if a plugin is available and enabled, its features will appear automatically, no editing needed
- enhanced with JavaScript events (and still, it does not require JavaScript from your readers)
- well-organized stylesheets for you to peruse and edit
- compatible with WordPress 2.0.4 and later versions
- plugins supported out-of-the-box: (not included with the theme)
- bsuite
- Days since birth
- FancyTooltips
- Fold Page List
- Gravatars
- Bread Crumb Trail Generator
- LMB^Box Comment Quicktags
- Optimal Title
- Recent Comments
- Search Reloaded
- Subscribe me
- Rudd-O’s Wordspew (and Jalenack’s Wordspew too)
- WordPress XHTML validator
- WP-Sociable

Hey, I just got your template (Paid for it) and I have afew problems and questions.
First of all i have errors at the bottom of my page
WordPress database error: [Table ‘idisturb_site.wp_bstat_hits’ doesn’t exist]
SELECT * FROM wp_bstat_hits WHERE post_id = 0 AND bstat_date = ‘2006-04-21′ LIMIT 1
WordPress database error: [Table ‘idisturb_site.wp_bstat_hits’ doesn’t exist]
INSERT INTO wp_bstat_hits (bstat_date, post_id, hits_reads, hits_ads1, hits_ads2) VALUES (’2006-04-21′, 0, 1, 0, 0);
next I thought there were pluins included…. I see the calendar which i think may be a plugin but that is it. Is there anything I have missed? I see that some as stated are not included but i thought it did say there was some.
next I would ike to have the site where it has the bookmark links after each post like you have… is this something i would have to edit? And how can i do this? Also is there a way to get the Bookmarks on the side like you have with MSN and yahoo?

This is the best three column word press layout I have seen so far. Good job.

A big thanks for this most excellent theme. The quality of the coding is awesome- well written, well documented (enough that even a moron like myself can hack it to suit my needs)
I had searched and searched for a good, liquid, three column theme which was cross browser compatible, and Burnin’-R was the best one I found (actually, the only one which worked).
I’m also checking out your UPS monitor application, and looking at other open source app/s you have written.
All in all, I am most impressed with your coding skills- people like you are the future (this from an “old fart”)- and the future looks good!

I am looking at purchasing the The Burnin’ R theme, and I had a few questions. I love the overall layout. I was wondering if I am able to change the theme to blue or green, or perhaps a multi-colored scheme. Will it look as good? Next, what types of pictures am I able to fit into the header, and how do I remove the background from any photo that I have? Last, am I able to change the font style of the header, or can I insert a company logo if I was to create one. Does the picture always fit between the name of the blog? Thanks for your help.

When I try to post a video, it shows up all the way at the bottom of the screen. Below the blog. Any suggestions?

Actually, YouTube videos are working fine but it’s the ESPN embeded videos that don’t work right. The video and leave comments stuff moves below the blog.

I love this template, it may be a bit advanced for me but I will learn
One question, can I remove your lovely face in the header and ad another pix? Maybe something besides the zone as well..
Thank you,
April

Yes, you definitely may, it’s licensed under the GPL so any modification is kosher as long as you don’t prohibit people from using your own modifications.

Hi Manuel,
I’m very impressed. It’s my first experience with WordPress and the Burnin’ R template makes me look like a pro. It’s very simple and flexible. I’m really enjoying customizing it.
Thanks,

It din’t work. I thought you can help?
I also wanted to change color on the right side bar to green a little bit to reflect the colors of the flag of my mother country Kenya. Moreover, my feeds doesnn’t work(check at the foot) neither does comments RSS. Please help out.

Hey, the comments don’t work on this theme. Is there a compatibility issue with WP 2.3? (I don’t think that’s the problem, but I have to ask.)
The site I’m working on is here.
Thanks!!! This is a really nice-looking theme!

Great themes Rudd-O. Thank You. I’d like to know how can I modify link style and hover link style in CSS. I use Burnin’ R classic and I’d like to have link style without underline and hover link style with bold. Which CSS page should I modify? Common.css? Colors-classic.css?
Sorry for my English, I’m Italian.
