A college degree is not financial security

The idea that college guarantees financial security is the most detrimental myth we could possibly tell our children. There are so many degrees out there that won’t even get you a management job Kmart, let alone a comfortable existence. General studies? Philosophy? What the hell do you expect to do with that degree? Clean toilets?

    A college degree is one more line on your resume, a credential that gives you a little advantage when you apply for a job, a step in the ladder of professional success.

    Depending on the career you choose, those college credits may be transferred to obtain a higher degree in a recognized university. Then you can become a professional in demand.

    I didn’t go to college for the degree. I went there for the networking and the knowledge.
