About me
Hey there! I’m Manuel, a twentysomething engineer / blogger / Linux fan with over fifteen years computing experience, 10+ years developing software, 9+ years deconstructing Linux, 5+ years of college and no shortage of sarcasm.
My goal is to continue being happy. I write here because it pleases me, because I crave the attention, and because it’s a great résumé builder. If by any chance you find anything useful here, please report it to the nearest police station.
Getting in touch with me
For professional inquiries, there’s the online résumé (curriculum vitae, Lebenslauf) section (yes, I might be available for hire in your country). There’s a separate page that lists how to contact me and career profiles at several high-profile sites.
Oh, feel free to leave a note as a page comment.
On the social networking world
I’m everywhere :-(. Feel free to explore:
- see my Spock summary (they found me without my intervention)
- add me to your Hi5 roster
- read my profile at MySpace
- look for me at OkCupid
- see what I’ve been up to through Mugshot
- see my professionan profile at LinkedIn
More about this site
I established this site on April 1999 as a repository of my thoughts, ideas and writings, and it’s been steadily growing ever since. Like any other Web site, about 5% of the articles here have been more or less “hits” around the Web, with the rest being quickies and fluff pieces.
More about me
This is me. I go by the nickname Rudd-O, a nickname whose story I don’t feel like explaining all over again.
In three words: I’m smart, handsome, and confident (pick any two). I like programming, dance music, computer security, TV, women… I’m a kinda average guy, if you think about it. But I do have strong convictions — and sometimes they get me in real trouble.
I was born in 1979. That makes me fairly young, or fairly old, depending, naturally, on your age. Just so you know, I published my first post here when I was 21.
My passions
What do I do for fun? Clubbing, reading, listening to dance music (as loud as possible), drinking, going places, making free software, discussing transcendental subjects, driving (I tend to drive above the speed limit).
Things that make me angry
I do not suffer fools gladly. I am inconsiderate to people who ask questions but don’t want to learn new things. I have a great deal of contempt for people who at least don’t tolerate reading or thinking for themselves. I am not a fan of people who drive slowly or poorly, especially when they take up the leftmost lane of the road (don’t they always?).
Things that encourage me
To be completely fair and balanced about me, I should recognize the following is true as well: I have admiration for people who think for themselves, people with strong moral values and convictions (even if they are in direct contradiction to mine), and people who read and illustrate themselves.
A couple more things I didn’t know where to file
Though my native language is Spanish, I speak, write and read English and German (English fluently, German not so much anymore).
Some people say a second or third language is “not worth it” I’ve always looked down to people who’ve said that. Foreign languages are windows into different cultures, offering an entirely different mindset for us to learn. Even if you don’t get to use a foreign language in its birth country, you’ll still be gaining valuable insights and parallel ways of thinking. That alone is a persistent reminder of how important it is for an individual to grow as a person.
I hope you enjoyed this site as much as I enjoyed having you over.

Christ dude - could you be more into yourself?
You have “very little patience for morons” yet you like “driving always above the speed limit”?
I’ve never seen a more pretentious, self obsessed website in my life.
For your own sake - tone it down A LOT.

The dude’s cool. Leave him be.
I have very little patience for morons as well. Life’s too short to waste it on them

To those “critical types” out there, criticizing without grounds:
If you don’t like what I say, get the fuck out of here. This is my spot, and no one else’s. You don’t like it? Get yourself a site and criticize me from there.
I’m not deleting your comments because you deserve to have a say. But I’m not gonna pay attention to you.

Personally, I love your blog. At least you are passionate
about something. If other people don’t like it they are quite
welcome to go somewhere else - as you quite correctly point
out.

Hola Manuel,
no me conoces, sólo escribo porque soy técnico informático, alemán y casado con una guayaca.
Dónde estás aprendiendo alemán? En el CCEA?

I have seen perhaps a 1000 wordpress themes, and yours is the first with so much emphasis on You.
Have you heard of “narcissistic personality disorder”. Altho it might be because of your age, you seem very egotistical.
Your theme is bad business PR, for 300 million USA people anyway.
No, its not all about you.

cruth:
Your statements might be true (they aren’t), but I have to inquire as to what could possibly make you get off your comfort zone, click on the About link, and write an exposé of my narcissism (which is real).
Truth is, mine were the only studio quality high-resolution pictures I could get my hands on. They’ve proven quite popular, judging from the thousands of incoming links my themes have generated. Additionally, the themes were engineered for use on my own site.
In relation to everything being about me: evidently not everything is about me. However, whatever belongs to me is certainly all about me.
As to the reason you publicly denounce my narcissism… chip on your shoulder, perhaps?

Jeez, everybody lighten up. It’s Rudd-O’s playpen, he can run it the way he wants.
September 19th, 2007 at 10:29
Hola Rudd-o. Upa!

I like your style, kid.

Don’t listen to the critics. They shouldnot judge others by their own stupidity. It’s your work, your time, your business what you do with it. If you don’t tell the cyber-world about yourself how will they ever know. If they take advantage of all the work you put into it, then that speaks volumes morethan your autobiography or their stupid insults. You do know, don’t you these are the same people driving below the limit in the fast lane. Hat’s off to you. Thanks for the site
